New Friends

I am glad Annie Dow -Anners- talked me into creating a blog after I moved from Murray, Utah. I have met a new friend, Lisa Cannon, who is connected to Annie through Kami. There could be blogging game called Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. This is wacky world where you can make friends and never talk to them in person.

For my new friends, this is why we moved to Minnesota: Born and raised in Sugar House, Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Kelly March 22, 1989. Stayed in Sugar House. Actually only moved about 2 blocks away from where I grew up. Eventually moved to Murray and were not planning on staying. But when God says "You will buy this ugly house and make it your own," you listen. (Actually, I did a lot of arguing, but God usually wins.)

Then we lived in Murray raising Brannon and eventually raising Dara. (Both children were surprises because when one parent doesn't ovulate and the other has no sperm - well, surprise!) Kelly worked for American Stores which then merged with Albertson which then merged with SuperValu. About a year and 1/2 ago, SuperValu asked Kelly to move to Minnesota. I cried for three days and then said "NO!!!!"

Then in October, 2007, they asked again. I said that I still did not want to move, but if they were paying for a trip, I would go look at MN. Started praying about the move as a family. Started feeling it right even before we say MN. Visited in November with the kids. Loved it and really knew it was right.

Eventually, with lots of stress and worry, sold our 1,400 square foot house to a cute young couple with a baby and bought a 3,000 square foot house. God wanted us in this house and in this town, Waconia. We found the house on Craigslist.com and it was for sale by owner. We would have never found it.

After looking at this house in February, 2008, we decided to check out the LDS Church that we would be going to IF we move here. Quaint little chapel. It is only about a year old. The boundaries take in at least 5 towns. We only have to drive about 5 minutes. Other drive at least 20. I am appreciating the members of my ward more. I really took a lot for granted in Utah. I could drive to a store and buy my "special underwear." Now I get to order it online and have it delivered.

There are so many people, family and friends, that I miss. There are also so many good reasons to be here.

These must be some reason why HF wants you guys in Minnesota. It looks so beautiful there. I have heard that it is so different in the Church living outside of sheltered Utah. Just think of the great experiences you are going to have there.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, did you go to East? My husband's cousins, the Marriotts, went there and they grew up on Princeton. Anywhere near where you grew up?

Okay, Lisa Cannon, I see you comment on my cousin Kami's blog all the time (& Debbie's too) how are you connected to them. I'm curious. I am Debbie's niece and Kami's cousin. I grew up down the street from them.

I'm glad you are making friends Lisa. It's surprising how connected you feel to people & how fun it is.

This is for anners, her blog is private. I have been friends with Becky since high school, which is about 15 years. Just friends from there, and that is how I know Kami and Debbie. Great family!!
